LAKKI MARWAT: An alleged criminal involved in killing a police constable was killed in an exchange of fire with police in the Sarabi area of Karak district on Thursday.
A police official said that a large police contingent headed by SHO Sabirabad police station was dispatched to the difficult mountainous terrain following information that a gang of proclaimed offenders was hiding there.
He said that the outlaws opened fire on policemen when they saw them approaching their hideout. “The attack triggered a gun battle that lasted for some time and resulted in neutralising and eliminating the kingpin of the gang identified as Naseebullah,” he maintained.
The official said that Naseebullah and his gang were involved in last week’s attack on a police party in the Sabirabad area wherein a policeman had embraced martyrdom and another was wounded.
He said that the body of the slain proclaimed offender was transferred to a hospital while police had launched a search for his accomplices in the area.
