PRA: The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has accelerated the process of improving its revenue system through enhanced tax collection, administrative reforms and digital monitoring.

The decision to expand the PRA scope has also been taken, under which 250 enforcement and audit officers will be deployed in the field next month. They will be assigned the task of improving tax collection from sectors contributing relatively lower revenue and enhancing compliance with tax laws.

The decisions were taken during a meeting on strengthening the departmental capacity, chaired by Punjab Revenue Authority Chairman Moazzam Iqbal Sipra.

The chairman directed officers to focus on administrative and technological reforms to make the tax collection system more effective, transparent and digital. He said that with the expansion of PRA’s jurisdiction, the enforcement and monitoring system is being further strengthened from the divisional level down to districts.

He directed that effective monitoring and enforcement actions against fraudulent practices in tax payments should be further strengthened. The chairman said that the deployment of new officers in the enforcement and audit wings would help improve administrative affairs and contribute to increased revenue collection.
