Three killed, two injured in rivals` attack

NAROWAL: Three people, including a woman, were killed and two others injured seriously by their rivals in Sheikhupura on Saturday.
Following the attack, the assailants fled the scene while brandishing weapons.
Rescue 1122 Media Coordinator Tajamul Hussain said the control room received a call from Jandiala Sher Khan near Darbar Waris Shah. The caller informed that some individuals in a car had been injured due to gunfire. Rescue teams arrived at the scene upon receiving the call.
With the assistance of local residents, the rescue teams recovered the injured from the vehicle.
The victims were identified as 50-year-old Muhammad Aslam, 30-year-old Mohsin Afzal, 50-year-old Shamila Bibi, 60-year-old Abdul Ghafoor, and 35-year-old Kainat Asad.
Muhammad Aslam, Mohsin Afzal, and Shamila Bibi succumbedto their injuries at the scene due to their critical condition.
Rescue 1122 provided first aid to Abdul Ghafoor and Kainat Asad before transferring them to the Government Hospital for further treatment.
Local police reached the spot.
The rescue team handed over the victims` bodies to the police.
Eyewitnesses said the attackers, driving a car from behind, opened fire on the victims` vehicle using modern automatic weapons. While attempting to escape, the assailants` car crashed into an electric pole due to speeding. The suspects then abandoned their vehicle andnedthe scene.
The Sheikhupura Saddar police took custody of the deceased and shifted them to the hospital for a post-mortem examination and legal procedures. The police investigation team collected evidence and recorded eyewitness statements from the scene.
Authorities have sealed the entry and exit points of Sheikhupura district to expedite the arrest of the suspects.
According to police sources, the victims` family was returning to Nowshera for work after attending a wedding. The incident is said to be the result of enmity.
