FC man drowns in Indus River

SWABI: A Frontier Constabulary (FC) soldier was drowned in the Indus River while his colleague was rescued by local divers here on Wednesday, police officials said.
Swabi District Police Officer Javid Iqbal told Dawn that two FC soldiers, who were performing anti-polio duty, went to bath in the downstream of Tarbela Dam and Ghazi Barotha Dam, but they drowned.
He said that local drivers saved one of them identified as Anwar Haq, adding the deceased was named Karimullah. He said Haq was in stable condition and efforts were underway to recover the body of Karim. He said the FC soldiers belonged to Allahi village.
Meanwhile, a man was killed when his brother allegedly opened fire on him in Topi area on Wednesday, said police.
They said the victim, Aamir Khan, was trying to prevent his brother, Gul Fayaz Khan, from taking heroin, which angered the latter. He opened fire on Aamir, killing him on the spot.
Registering FIR at the Topi city police station, the victim`s wife said her husband was killed by brother, Gul Fayaz, after he prevented him from taking the contraband.
The police registered the case and started investigation.
