Boosting chilli exports

KARACHI: The Food Security and Agriculture Centre of Excellence (FACE) has distributed geotextile drying sheets to chilli farmers in Kunri to improve the quality and safety of the commodity and to expand market and export opportunities.

As part of this joint effort with Verdora Ventures, local farmers will replace open-soil drying with a clean, dedicated surface, helping growers produce cleaner, safer, better-graded chilli, lift incomes, and strengthen food security across the value chain.

The geotextile sheets keep the crop off the soil and help it dry faster and more evenly, controlling aflatoxin, reducing dirt and contamination, cutting postharvest losses, and improving grade, colour, and fineness, says a press release.-Staff Reporter
