Quadcopter targets Mattani police post

PESHAWAR: A suspected quadcopter dropped explosives at Mera police post of the Mattani police station on Friday evening, a senior official said. However, no loss of life or property was reported in the attack.

SP Saddar Division Fida Hussain told Dawn that munitions fell on the roof of the post.

He said police had cordoned off the area, and a search operation was launched immediately after the explosion.

The police post is located in the Gulshan Abad area of Mattani, some 20 miles south of the provincial capital.

Mattani, which falls within the territorial jurisdiction of Peshawar district, borders Kohat’s Darra Adamkhel subdivision in the south, and Khyber district in the north.

On Wednesday, a civilian and a policeman sustained injuries when a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device went off on Indus Highway, damaging the outer wall of Sra Khawra checkpost, also in the jurisdiction of Mattani police station.

The bomb had been planted in a loader rickshaw.
