JUI-F chief accuses opposition of blackmailing govt on Panama leaks

QUETTA: Chief of his own faction of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam Maulana Fazlur Rehman has accused opposition parties of trying to blackmail the government on the issue of Panama leaks.

Speaking at the workers` convention of his party at the Hockey Stadium here on Thursday, he severely criticised Pakistan Tehreek1-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan for demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

He said the PTI chief was levelling allegations of corruption against the prime minister while he was himselfinvolved in financial wrongdoings.

Terming the PTI chief a supporter of the Jewish lobby, the Maulana said international imperialists wanted to topple an elected government in Pakistan and bring their agents to power. Some elements are hatching conspiracies to derail democracy in Pakistan to meet the hidden agenda of world powers. The JUI-F along with other democratic forces of the country would resist any such move, he added.

The JUI-F chief alleged that Imran Khan went to England before the election of London`s mayor to support the candidate of the Jews lobby.

He accused opposition parties of changing their stance on the investi-gation into the Panama Papers leaks.

He said no leader of his party had his name in the Panama Papers. The JUI-F was against corruption and would support an across-the-board accountability of all those who plundered national wealth, he added.

Deputy Chairman of the Senate and Secretary General of JUI-F Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri claimed that members of his party had never indulged in Knancial wrongdoings.
