QUETTA: One person was killed in a mysterious blast at a house in the airport road area of the provincial capital late on Thursday night, police officials said.
Police said the blast occurred in the guest room of a house owned by a trader named Fazal Karim in the Killi Shabu area on the airport road on the outskirts of Quetta.
The house was destroyed in the powerful blast while some nearby houses were also damaged. The deceased was Mr Karim’s nephew, whose body was later recovered from the debris. However, other members of Mr Karim’s family luckily remained unhurt.
“One body has been recovered from the debris so far, but it is in very bad condition,” a senior police officer said.
The nature of the blast was not immediately known. “A bomb disposal squad collected evidence from the site and would ascertain the cause and nature of the blast,” the SSP operations said.—Staff Correspondent
