BAHAWALPUR: A 50-foot-deep sinkhole surfaced after the main sewerage burst due to the pressure of heavy rainwater in Tibba Badar Sher Colony.
Sewage submerged the major portion of the population in the area.
With the creation of the sinkhole, the Bahawalpur Wasa deployed heavy machinery along with manual labour at the scene to fill up the sinkhole and repair the damaged sewerage.
Wasa MD Muhammad Amjad, speaking to Dawn, claimed that the sewerage had been repaired.
ELECTROCUTED: A man was electrocuted atvillage Qaimpur in tehsil Hasilpur.
One Muhammad Amin (33) was electrocuted in his house when he attempted to cut an iron rod with an electric grinder. The 1122 rescuers pronounced him dead when they reached the place.
In Goth Mehrab area of tehsil Ahmedpur East, Adnan (21), a private electrician, was attempting to install a private domestic meter when he was electrocuted.
One Shan (15) was sitting on the tractor-trolley, laden with wood, when it overturned, burying him under wood near Pul Noorshah near Qaimpur. When people pulled him out, he had already died.
ACE: Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Bahawalpur arrested a patwari, Muhammad Ahmed, for accepting a bribe from a complainant.
After arrest, patwari was lodged in the ACE lock-up.
