PESHAWAR: A woman from Shabgadar has alleged that a PTI MNA and MPA, with the alleged assistance of police, are attempting to take possession of 24 kanals of her family’s residential land on the pretext of providing an access road to a school.
Addressing a press conference at Peshawar Press Club on Saturday, Mujeeda Bibi, daughter of Manda Khan, along with her brothers Marwat Khan and Abdul Razzaq, appealed to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and the inspector general of police to provide protection to her family and take action against those allegedly involved in the incident.
Ms Mujeeda, a resident of Daryab Korona in MattaMughalkhel, Shabgadar, alleged that the MNA and MPA, with the help of police, attacked their house on Tuesday and subjected women and children to violence.
She claimed that machinery had been brought to demolish their houses spread over 24 kanals of residential land, allegedly to construct an access road to a school.
‘There is already a road to the school. Why are our houses being demolished in the name of a school road?’ she questioned.
Ms Mujeeda further allegedthat she and her family had been receiving threats of kidnapping and murder and that, because of the alleged threats, her children had not attendedschool or a religious seminary for the past three months.
She appealed to the police chief, chief secretary and chief minister to protect her family and take action against those allegedly involved in the incident.
The woman also alleged that Mr Taj had previously occupied around 320 kanals of land in Daryab Korona, where, she claimed, an LPG plant and a stone-crushing plant had been established. She also alleged that a government water reservoirmeant to irrigate local farmland was being used for private business purposes, depriving the local residents of water.
Ms Mujeeda further alleged that Mr Taj had obtained a licence for explosives and was selling explosives to people despite a ban on the practice in the province.
She called for an investigation into the allegations and sought action against the police officials who, she claimed, assisted in the alleged attack and attempted land occupation.
