Lady Imam`s appeal

2014-01-21
PATNA: A fervent appeal to the women of India to help the country`s war effort and play their part in bringing the day of victory closer, was made by Lady Anis Imam speaking on the `Ladies Day` of the War Services exhibition here on Wednesday evening [Jan 19].

Lady Imam said: `You might ask what we women can do. We cannot drive tanks, we cannot work tractors. That is true. And yet there are so many ways in which women can play their part. They can help in keeping a strong home front, raise production of food and be a source of encouragement to the men on the front. The enemy aims at shattering your morale. You can defeat his evil purpose by remaining calm and confident.

Proceeding Lady Imam said: `In every country, women are taking a prominent part in the war effort. In Turkey, Russia and England, they are not only working in the homes and fields but are fighting side by side with men. Indian women can follow their example. Our past history shows that women have played a vital part in the making of the country`s destiny.` (Dawn, Delhi)
