KARACHl: A man was shot dead during a family quarrel with his son, while the young boy sustained axe injuries inflicted by the father in Swat Colony on Sunday, police said.
The police believe that the man took his own life with a gun after injuring his son with an axe.
The officials received information about the death of Khalid and injuries to his 15-year-old son Ahmed at home in Swat Colony.
They reached the spot, took the body and the injured to the Civil Hospital Karachi for medico-legal formalities.
During the probe, it transpired that a quarrel had taken place at night between the man and his son over some domestic issues, which escalated into violence.
As per initial information, Khalid had divorced his wife and the son was living with his mother. At that night, the son visited his father’s home where a quarrel took place between them.
During the arguments, the son sustained injuries caused by an axe while his father sustained a bullet wound on his head, according to a police statement.
Investigators have collected a pistol and an axe from the crime scene. It was a licensed pistol registered in the name of the deceased Khalid.
Madina Colony police SHO Allah Bux said that it appeared that following the quarrel and injuring his own son, the man ended his life by shooting himself in his head.
He said the injured son was not in a position to give any statement to the police.
