LARKANA: The 30th death anniversary of Mir Murtaza Bhutto, son of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, was observed separately on Sunday by the PPP (Shaheed Bhutto) and the Pakistan Peoples Party.
Workers from various parts of Sindh visited his mausoleum to pay tribute.
Zulfikar Junior, along with a good number of his followers, visited the Bhutto family mausoleum amid full-throated slogans.
He showered rose petalson the grave of Mir Murtaza Bhutto and offered fateha. Separately, the PPP (SB) held its programme at his mausoleum in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh Bhutto, which was attended by party’s Central Committee members, along with other political and social workers and party leaders.
On behalf of the party, representatives of Ghinwa Bhutto laid a floral sheet on the grave of Murtaza Bhutto and offered prayers. Speaking on the occasion, party leaders said Murtaza had spent hislife struggling for the country, democracy, the people, and particularly for the rights of the poor, the destitute, labourers and farmers.
Separately, the PPP held Quran khawani at the Bhutto House in the evening to mark the death anniversary The Zulfikar Bhutto Rabita Committee on Saturday night organised a torch-bearing rally from Kennedy Market to the local press club to pay tribute to Mir Murtaza Bhutto and other martyrs of the 70 Clifton tragedy.
Participants lit candles in front of Mir Murtaza Bhutto’s portrait, showered flower petals andraised slogans.
They said Sindh continued to be in a state of constant protest, demanding justice for the blood of the martyrs.
They said they had knocked on the doors of the courts, seeking justice for the martyrs’ blood but had not received it, and that they would now go to the ‘court of the people’ to raise public awareness, because, as Mir Murtaza Bhutto had said, every person who speaks the truth must pass through a night that resembles death.
They said Murtaza Bhutto had spoken up for peasants, workers and students, and it was for thisreason that the oppressors had removed him from their path and martyred him along with his companions.
The Pakistan Peoples Party observed the 30th martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed Mir Murtaza Bhutto at Bhutto House, Naudero on Sunday.
The event was attended by PPP Women’s Wing Central President andMPA Faryal Talpur, PPP Larkana District President and MNA Khursheed Ahmed Junejo, former home minister Sardar Sohail Anwar Siyal, PPP Larkana Division General Secretary Abdul Fatah Bhutto, MPA Jamil Somro, Nisar Murad Bhutto, Mansoor Soomro, Asghar Narejo and Aijaz Ahmed Leghari, along with a large number of party workers.
