CHAKWAL: A 23-yearold man from Khairpur village in Chakwal district ended his life on Sunday by taking poisonous pills after uploading a video message on his Facebook account in which he said he was taking the extreme step after failing to cope with his loneliness.
The deceased identified as Malik Habib was suffering from depression caused by the continued isolation.
He was taken to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Kallar Kahar in critical condition and later referred to Rawalpindi, but he died on the way.
According to locals, Habib’s parents had separated in his childhood, after which he moved to his maternal grandparents’ house along with his mother.
His mother passed away a few years ago, followed by the death of his grandmother, who was his primary caregiver. Since then, residents said, the youth had been living alone in a deserted house and was unemployed.
A villager told Dawn that Habib had also attempted suicide by plunging into a well but was rescued. Correspondent
