MANSEHRA: Former premier Mian Nawaz Sharif on Sunday visited residence of Lt-Gen (retired) Salahuddin Tirmizi in Kaghan and offered condolences on the demise of his paternal cousin and former provincial minister Syed Akhtar Hussain Shah.

The deceased Mr Shah, who was the son of former senator Syed Muzammal Shah and elder brother of former provincial minister Syed Ahmad Hussain Shah, breathed his last the other day after a brief illness.

Mr Sharif also held a meeting with representatives of the hoteliers’ association led by Seth Matiullah and Hussan Deen and assured them that the federal government would utilise its resources to preserve the environment and beauty of Kaghan Valley.

‘This is no doubt a heaven on earth, but rapid industrialisation has plagued its natural charm and soothing environment to some extent, but I would take up thisissue with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to earmark funds for the preservation of the natural essence of Saiful Muluk Lake,’ he said.

Mr Sharif also assured the representatives of the Kaghan Valley’s hoteliers’ association that he would ensure that the Mansehra-Naran-Jalkhad Road, which is in a dilapidated condition, was reconstructed to provide tourists trouble-free access to this picturesque land.
