Invasion Zero Hour

2019-05-22
NEW YORK: `American Generals commanding reserve bases for the Second Front in Europe told me during a 4,000-mile tour this week that heavier than ever air blows against Germany may be expected in the near future,` says Reuter`s special correspondent.

A high officer said: `We now have so many pilots that they are coming out of our ears.

Flying to the bases where 300,000 fully traine d soldiers are awaiting orders to move, I saw great convoys waiting to sail. From the air, they looked like tightly packed logs in a stream.

`Here in the United States are such great reserves of men and material that it is doubtful if Hitler himself has any real conception of the ordeal awaiting Germany. In Louisiana I saw great armoured forces waiting for others to leave Britain and so make room for them.

`It is true the European war is about to enter its toughest and perhaps the longest phase but the outcome can never be in doubt ... It may run up a staggering cost in men and material but ultimately whatever the setbacks Germany will be overwhelmingly defeated...`. Dawn Delhi
