LAHORE: The PPP held a torch-bearing march on The Mall late on Monday night to commemorate the 63rd birth anniversary of Benazir Bhutto.

The PPP placed illuminated 20-foot high portraits of Ms Bhutto outside the Punjab Assembly.

Clad in party flags the workers held a torch-bearing march at 12:01am. `Benazir Tujhay Salam` song was played and the workers saluted the pictures of Ms Bhutto.

Speaking on the occasion, PPP leader Shaukat Basra said: `Shaheed BB is alive in our hearts and she would always be remembered for her supreme sacrifice for Pakistan and democracy.

Following in the footsteps of Benazir, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is carrying forward the mission of his mother.

Faisal Mir said the PPP workers had pledged to continue the struggle to complete the mission of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto. The workers would defeat the mindset of Gen Zia and his successors to fulfil the mission of Bhuttos.

Dr.Zarrar Yusaf, Shahida Jabeen, Imran Dogar, Ali Hassan Awan, Agib Sarwar and Shahzad Shafi also spoke. Staff Reporter
