LAHORE: Pakistan People`s Party Punjab President Mian Manzoor Wattoo says his party has finalised seatadjustment with the PTI and other opposition parties in Kasur and Gujranwala for upcoming local body elections.

`We are finalising seat-adjustment with the PTI and other opposition parties, including Jamaat-i-Islami and Pakistan Awami Tahreek, in Punjab for local body polls. So far seat-adjustment has been finalised in Kasur and Gujranwala and talks for other areas are underway,` Wattoo told Dawn on Monday.

When asked the PTI leadership had backtracked from its provincial organiser Chaudhry Sarwar`s commitment that it would go along with the PPP in the local polls, Mr Wattoo said: `Despite some PTI leaders statements, the PPP-PTI seat-adjustment at local level will be materialised as it (PTI) has agreed in principle that it is the need of the hour to go for such an arrangement against the ruling PML-N,` he said.

Lahore PPP President Samina Ghurki told Dawn that her party would field a maximum number of candidates on the 275 seats of chairman and vice-chairman in the city.

She said the PPP would announce its candidates for Lahore once negotiations with other parties like PTI, JI and PAT were finalised.
