Police recover man after exchange of fire with abductors

LAKKI MARWAT: Police recovered a kidnapped man after exchange of fire with the abductors near Wanda Banochi in the limits of Shaheed Haibat Ali Khan police station in Darra Pezu town.

DSP Khankhel told a press conference at his office on Monday that Amanat had been abducted from Islamabad two months ago. He said that district police chief Ali Akbar Shah formed a special team for his recovery after receiving information that the kidnapped would be shifted to some an unknown place via Bannu-D I Khan road.

The DSP said that police erected barriers on the road near Wanda Banohi checl(point and started searching suspected vehicles.

He said that policemen signalled a motorcar coming from Bannu side to stop but the driver sped away. The men travellingin thecaralsoñred atthe cops,he added.

The DSP said that after retaliatory firing by police, the kidnappers released the Amanat and managed to escape taking the advantage of darkness.

FREE SEED: The local farmers would be provided with free wheat seed under Insaf Seed Programme launched by the provincial government, said district director of agriculture Mukhtar Rehman Yousafzai here on Monday. having up to 24 kanal land 50 kg wheat seed each Addressing the nazims and peasant councillors of village council at model farm services centre, he said that farmers having up to 24 kanals of land would be provided with 50 kilograms wheat seed each.

Mr Mukhtar said that the programme would help in resolving the problem of shortage of food.

He said that provincial government had made village council nazims part of Insaf Seed Programme to make it transparent and successful.

TRUANT WORKERS: The heads of several line departments and their subordinates were found absent when district nazim Ishfaq Ahmad Khan Meenakhel paid surprise visits to government offices on Monday.

The district nazim had received complaints about the absence of employees from offices during duty hours. Taking notices of the complaints, he visited the offices of district accounts, communication and works, education, soil conservation, social welfare, forests and finance and planning departments.

The nazim said that the truant employees would face the music. `We will take up the matter with the quarters concerned to initiate action against negligent and derelict officials,` he added. Correspondent
