SAHIWAL: An under-investigation suspect escaped from the Crime Control Department (CCD) custody on Sunday after their vehicle veered on to a sugarcane field after a tyre burst near 78/5-L village.
Police saidSubhan Ali, a resident of 96/9-L, had been arrested in an animal theft case registered at Yousafwala Police Station under Section 392 PPC on July 7, 2026. The case was later handed over to the CCD for investigation.
During interrogation, Subhan confessed to lifting a buffalo and a calf, which he claimed were tied at his cousin’s outhouse in Noor Shah. He told police his cousins were unaware the animals were stolen.
The CCD investigators took Subhan for recovery of the animals. On the way, near Jutt Agriculture Farm, the front tyre of the CCD vehicle burst, causing it to ram into a nearby sugarcane field. According to the FIR, the impact loosened the handcuff buckle attached to Head Constable Muhammad Shahzad, allowing Subhan to break free and flee into the fields. Despite a search, police failed to recapture him. Later, CCD registered a second case against Subhan under Section 224 PPC on the complaint of SI Asad Raza. Correspondent
