PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government will digitise the issuance of route permits to facilitate transporters.
A meeting held here on Monday was informed that the route permit issuance system would soon be available on the Dastak mobile application.
Representatives of transport unions also attended the meeting held at the Regional Transport Authority’s office here.
RTA Peshawar secretary Qaiser Khan, Provincial Transport Authority Khyber Pakhtunkhwa secretary Naveed Akbar and others were in attendance.
Representatives of transporters were briefed on the online route permit system and its procedure.
It was explained that under the new online system, vehicle owners will be able to apply for route permits using their mobile phones, saving them from visiting government offices. The app will make the process of obtaining a route permit easier, faster and more convenient.
The online system also provides a facility for payment of fees. As a result, vehicle owners will no longer need to visit the government offices or banks and will be able to pay the fees online through their mobile phones.
The meeting was informed that the online facility for new route permits has been launched, while work is underway to bring other route permit-related services into the online system as well.
In addition, the online system for bus stand licences will be launched soon.
On the occasion, Mr Akbar said that the purpose of digitising the route permit system was to facilitate the transporters and save their time.
He asked representatives of transport unions to create awareness among vehicle owners about making full use of the online route permit system.
