TOBA TEK SINGH: Police registered on Sunday a case against five suspects three nominated and two unidentiSed persons on the charge of opening fire on their rivals outside Dijkot police station, killing one of them and injuring four others, including a police constable, on Saturday.

The first information report (FIR) was registered by Dijkot police under sections 302, 109, 324, 148 and 149 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), on the complainant of Zohra Bibi, themother of the deceased, Javed Iqbal Wahgra.

The complainant, a widow, resident of Chak 249-RB, stated in the FIR thatsheandhersonJaved, along with their relatives, were present outside Dijkot police station near a parking lot for joining investigation into a murder case registered against her deceased son (Javed).

Meanwhile, she said, their opponent Farman Ali Fanni and his four accomplices arrived there on motorcycles and opened indiscriminate fire on them.

As a result, her son Javed Iqbal Wahgra andthree others, including a policeman, Rizwan, were injured, she said. Later, her son succumbed to his wounds, while others were admitted to the Allied Hospital, Faisalabad.

The police continued raids to arrest the suspects.

A N T IDE C A N T I NG DRIVE: In a recent drive against decanting of LPG, 56 cases were registered against the gas cylinder dealers in Faisalabad`s different police stations.

Civil Defence Officer Rana Muhammad Abbas told reporters on Sunday that action was also taken against 16 illegal minipetrol pumps. During the operation, the buildings of these illegal outlets were demolished and their machinery and other equipment were impounded, he added.

SHOT DEAD: An unidentified motorcyclist shot a man dead in Millat Colony, Faisalabad, on Samundri Road, on Sunday.

Rescue 1122 said Khalid Haider (37) of the People`s Colony No 2 was on a motorcycle when another biker opened fire on him, leaving him critically injured.

He was rushed to the DHQ hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

THEFT: Thieves allegedly took away electric motors and other valuables worth more than Rs1 million late on Saturday night from a power loom in Azam Town.

Factory owner Ghazanfar Ali told Gojra city police that thieves brol(e into the factory`s store room by making a hole in its roof and took away electric motors and other valuables.

Police are investigating.
