KARACHI: A man was shot dead while resisting an armed robbery attempt in Shadman Town on Saturday, police said.

They added that armed bandits riding a motorbike fired shots at 45-yearold Asif Younus when he tried to overpower them while they were trying to speed away after snatching mobile phone and valuables from his neighbour.

`One of the two men riding a motorbike pulled out a pistol and snatched cellphone and valuables from a young man in a street of Shadman Town, said SP Chaudary Mohammad Akhtar of North Nazimabad. `When they were fleeing, the victim`s neighbour, Asif Ilyas, challenged the robbers and tried to intercept them which triggered firing from them. One of the bandits was hit by two bullets in the chest and died while being treated at the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

In Sohrab Goth area, a cable operator was shot dead, police said.

They added that three armed men riding a motorbike targeted 35year-old Irfan Jakhrani outside his home situated near the industrial area.

`He was hit by three bullets in the chest and head and died on the spot,` said Sohrab Goth Industrial Area SHO Inspector Rana Haseeb.

`The victim was cable operator. The police have enough clues to believe personal enmity as reason behind the killing,` the inspector said.

He also claimed to have arrested one of the three suspects after a search operation and multiple raids in the area following the incident. The victim had some monetary dispute with an area resident who along with his two friends executed the job, he added.
