KHAR: A sessions court in Bajaur tribal district on Saturday awarded life imprisonment to a man for killing his brother some six years ago.

The judge said Mohammad Salam of Salarzai was found guilty of killing his brother, Mohammad Islam in 2014. The sentence was given by Mian Zahidullah Jan, the additional sessions judge, after concluding the trial which lasted for several weeks.

The judge also imposed Re1 million fine on the convict, which will be given to the heirs of the slain. The convict will spend another six months in prison if he does not pay the fine.

It’s the first time that a court has awarded life imprisonment in a murder case since implementation of the country’s judicial system in the region, last year.—Correspondent
