Stealing sand

2017-03-23
I WAS out for a stroll along Clif ton beach when I noticed that the sand along the beach is being stolen just behind an eatery called Corniche 2 on Seaview Road.

The plunderers are stacking the sand and shif ting it at night. This has made this part of the beach look ugly. This is a criminal act to denude Clif ton beach of its natural gif t, sand. The digging is so conspicuous that no one can avoid noticing it.

Why is this activity not being stopped by the DHA and CBC authorities. Every morning I see the DHA vigilance department vehicle patrolling the area. I wonder whether the field inspector is reporting the thef t to his superiors.

In the eighties the waves of the Arabian Sea would smash against the parapet wall of Seaview road. This is no longer true.
