Three of family die, four others injured as bus hits motorcycle-rickshaw

KASUR: A man, woman and a minor girl died while four other members of their f amily suf fered serious injuries when a speeding bus hit a motorcycle-rickshawnear Phoolnagar bypass on Multan Road.
According to police, Falak Sher of Mustafa Town Okara, along with his six family members, was going to Lahore on a motorcycle-rickshaw to attend the funeral of a relative.
Near Phoolnagar bypass a speeding bus hit the motorcycle-rickshaw from the rear side, leaving Falak Sher, 45, Naziran Bibi,50 and eight-year-old Khadija Bibi dead on the spot, while Farzana Bibi, Sultan, Amir Ali and the rickshaw driver, Ali Haider, sustained serious injuries.
The dead bodies and the injured persons were shif ted to Phoolnagar Trauma Centre, where Farzana and Amir were stated to be in serious condition, the police said.
The bus driver managed his escape, while the policewere looking into the matter.
In another incident, an oil tanker carrying 50,000 litre petrol overturned allegedly while saving a motorcyclist near Parnavan village on the Multan Road in the limits of Phoolnagar police station.
On being informed of the situation, highway police, Rescue 1122 staff and local police reached the spot and cordoned off the area to avoid any accident because of petrol leakage.
The tanker driver, Iqbal, suffered minor injuries and was provided treatment on the spot by a Rescue 1122 team that reached the scene responding to a call.
The driver claimed the accident occurred when he tried to save a motorcyclist who suddenly appeared on the road.
According to Rescue 1122 staf fers, ef forts were underway to tackle the situation till the filling of this report.
