Journalists to get safety training

PESHAWAR: Journalists Welfare, Safety and Development Foundation has announced launching regular courses for professional, safety trainings of mediapersons across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Fata.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the foundation`s cabinet here on Sunday. It also announced plan to extend all possible support to needy people irrespective of their professional af filiations.

The participants stressed the need for imparting quality professional and safety trainings to the mediapersons and decided that regular sessions would be arranged at the level of different press clubs in collaboration with relevant organisations of journalists.

The duty to supervise the capacity building programme was assigned to Khyber Union of Journalists` former president Nisar Mehmood.

Similarly, the meeting decided to continue work on the collection of data of the fallen mediapersons and their families so that the plan meant for welfare of the orphans could be shared with other charity organisations in the larger interests of the heirs of the deceased journalists.

The duty to complete the ongoing process about data was assigned to Rahmatullah Khan.

Besides, the participants agreed that being a welfare organisation the foundation would also support needy people in the society.

The welfare, developmental and reforms activities will be supervised by Tariq Iqbal who will also be responsible to keep liaison with different organisations to seek sponsorships.
