Rashid urges dissenting boards to boycott ICC

KARACHI: Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif on Friday slammed the attitude of India, England and Australia for their `dictatorial` plan to dominate the International Cricket Council (ICC) and world cricket and called on the dissenting member boards to boycott the future ICC events in protest.
`The Big-3 are flexing their muscles on the basis of two facts.
They are financially much stronger while the rest of the member boards are weak and not able to assert their viewpoint, said Rashid while speaking to a private TV channel on Friday.
`It is sheer discrimination, what the ICC and the Big-3 are planning, which should be clogged with a combined effort,` he said. `If seven countries boycott the main ICC events, it will have a huge impact. But I am afraid such a move is not likely.
`If not all then at least Pakistan and South Africa could do it. Both should recognise their potential and take the lead in combating the possible takeover,` said Rashid.
`By asking for a lion`s share, the Big-3 are simply dividing the ICC,` lamented Rashid. `The draft will disturb the FTP as well, which will hurt the broadcasters. So they could also opt for a legal course against the ICC,` he concluded.-Agencies
