Dawn Report 2022-10-25
LAHORE: Civil Lines police on Monday booked Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) chief Manzoor Pashteen on terrorism charges for making a speech at the Asma Jahangir Conference at a private hotel the other day.

Pashteen made the speech in a session `Reluctance to Criminalise Enforced Disappearance and Arbitrary Detentions` which was also attended by activist Sammi Deen Baloch and former chief minister of Balochistan and chairperson of Balochistan National Party-Mengal Sardar Akhtar Jan Mengal among others.

During his speech, according to Dawn.

com, Pashteen had alleged that the national institutions were behind the extrajudicial killings of people in former Fata areas under the policy of `state of exceptions`. He had said since 2001, a new narrative about national security was built. He said MNA Ali Wazir was being denied a production order because of his free speech and the courts were helpless. Besides courts, he said, the parliament, media and civil society were powerless. `The only way out is resistance.

In a tweet, Pashteen said a case had been registered against him on charges of treason and terrorism. `The voices of truth against suppression and cruelty cannot be suppressed with FIRs, jail or propaganda.

The solution lies only in provision of justice,` he wrote in Urdu while sharing a copy of the FIR. The case has been registered on the report of an ASI.
