TIMERGARA: Members of the Lower Dir district council on Wednesday walked out of the session in protest against the Pesco for not restoring power supply to pans of Jandol subdivision despite the passage of four days.

Before the walkout, Maulana Imran of JI and Inayatullah of ANP, while speaking on a point of order, said majority of the villages in Jandol had been without power supply for the last four days.

They alleged that Pesco authorities were unmoved to the calls to restore the electricity supply.

At this, the council members supported their call to walk out of the session.

Earlier, PPP councillor Alam Zeb, JI`s Fazal Qadir and PTl woman member Saira Shamsul Qamar informed the house that gas connections were being distributed on `political grounds`.

They alleged that the ANP leadership was forcing people to join the pany to get gas connections.

They demanded of the government to take notice of the political interference.

ANP councillor Asif Aziz rejected the allegation and told the house that instead of condemning others, the JI councillors should highlight the poor performance of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government.

District nazim Mohammad Rasool Khan and officials of different departments were also in attendance.

Meanwhile, the Helping Hands for Relief and Development (HHRD) on Thursday distributed food packages among 210 registered special children under its Children with Disability Programme (CWDP). A function in this regard was held at Talash where Timergara Tehsil Nazim Riaz Mohammad was the chief guest.

The H HRD distributed 210 food packages, 10 wheelchairs, six walkers, 12 walking frames, four special beds and eight special chairs among children with disability.
