LAHORE: Lahore High Court Chief Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah on Thursday inaugurated, through Skype, a video-link system for the production of undertrial prisoners before courts at Rawalpindi sessions court.
Addressing the ceremony on video-link from Lahore, the chief justice said judicial reforms were being implemented speedily to provide justice in undertrial cases without any delay.
He lauded the initiatives of the Rawalpindi sessions judge for evolving a new system of production of undertrial prisoners before courts through video link from Central Jail, Adiala, which would help save national exchequer and expenses incurred on transportation and security measures. He said the online system not only would help save the time of courts but also ensure speedy justice.
The chief justice said the essence of judiciary reforms was to authorise session judges and members of the judiciary to evolve new innovated ideas with the help of information technology to speed up undertrial cases.
He stressed upon keeping continuous process of dialogue among judges, lawyers and all stakeholders to further streamline the legal system.
Rawalpindi District and Sessions Judge Sohail Nasir said the new online system would save millions of rupees to be incurred on transportation of prisoners from jail to courts.
Rawalpindi RPO Fakhar Sultan Raja, CPO Israr Ahmad Abbasi, Lahore High Court Bar Association Rawalpindi President Zafar Mahmood Mughal, District Bar Association Rawalpindi President Sajjad Akbar Abbasi, bar members, senior lawyers and officials of the judiciary were also present on the occasion.
