LANDI KOTAL: The bomb disposal squad defused an explosive device planted outside the house of a central leader of Jamaat-i-Islami, Fata, here on Tuesday.

Officials said that the security forces encircled the house of Zar Noor Afridi in Sadukhel area immediately after they were informed about the presence of an explosive device outside the house.

Zar Noor Afridi, who is JI deputy chief for Fata, was present at his house when the device was spotted.

He along with other family members was allowed to move out of the house after the BDS staff defused the time device.

The forces also recovered two mortar shells, hundreds of cartridges packed in boxes and other material used in subversive activities from the locality. Meanwhile, unidentified gunmen kidnapped an Afghan national from Torkham on Tuesday.-Correspondent
