MIRPURKHAS: A mob stormed a house and set it on fire after severely beating up a woman and her two sons to avenge the murder of a youth, blamed on the family, in Jhuddo town on Tuesday.

Police and other sources said that the family reacted furiously when Ayaz Qaimkhani, 18, allegedly trespassed their house located at a place along the LBOD dyke in Jhuddo. He was given a thrashing by Anwar Thaheem and Aari Thaheem and one of them allegedly attacked the youth with an axe.

The victim was rushed to the Jhuddo rural health centre where doctors referred him to a Hyderabad hospital. However, he succumbed to his injuries on the way.

A large number of Qaimkhani community members outraged over the youth`s murder went to the alleged killers` house and attacked the two brothers with clubs leaving them seriously injured. Their mother, Fatima Thaheem, was also beaten up by the mob that finally set the house ablaze. The Jhuddo police intervened and managed to take away the family. However, the Qaimkhani protesters proceeded to the Juhddo police station and surrounded it demanding custody of the `killers`.

The entire town remained tense due to the mob`s aggression and the police had to take Anwer Thaheem and Ms Fatima to the Digri Taluka Hospital and Aari Thaheem to the Naokot rural health centre for treatment.

The body of Ayaz Qaimkhani was handed over to his heirs after a post-mortem examination was performed at the Jhuddo rural health centre.

No FIR of the incident was lodged by either side till late in the evening.
