PHA pays Rs5.7m to F WO for building

RAWALPINDI: Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) has paid Rs5.7 million to Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) to get possession of the building at the historical Liaquat Bagh which it would use as its office.

The FWO had constructed the two-storey building in 2007 at Liaquat Bagh to use it as its site office for the Leh Expressway Project. However, after the formation of PML-N government in Punjab in 2008, the project was shelved and the building has remained vacant ever since.

A senior official of the PHA told Dawn that the building was in possession of FWO for the last eight years despite the fact that it had been built on government land.

However, he said that instead of using the building for recreational purposes, the PHA will shift its offices from RDA premises to this building in September.
