KARACHI: The Mir Raza Judicial Commission has dismissed an application filed by the deceased’s family seeking personal appearance of the Karachi police chief and the head of the investigation team before the commission.
On Sept 17, the commission headed by Justice Omar Sial of the Sindh High Court had decided not to seek personal appearance of Karachi police chief Azad Khan and investigation team head DIG Amir Farooqui.
It decided to send them questionnaires and asked the deceased’s family to submit their questions, and if the commission finds them relevant, it will forward them to both police officers.
“Nothing material has happened since my last order to make me change my earlier directions. I believe that changing orders without any material development will erode and compromise the trust people have had in this commission. With much respect, I therefore decline the request,” it added.
The commission again asked Mir Raza’s family to submit questions to the commission by Saturday (today).
Justice Sial also noted that he was not very happy with SSP Samiullah Soomro, head of the first investigation team, but appreciated the fact that he had admitted “lapses without beating around the bush and gave his answers in a very decent manner before the commission”.
