RAWALPINDI: Police rounded up 28 illegal Afghan nationals during a search operation in Chaklala on Thursday and transported them to the holding centre in Dhoke Syedan.
According to sources, the police continued search operations in different parts of the garrison city and the 28 Afghan nationals were taken into custody after they could not provide any legal proofs of their stay in the city.
Special security measures have been put in place at the Afghan holding centre.
Besides the police, Elite Force has also been deployed at the centre.
As part of the security, barbed wire has been erected around the holding centres, CCTV cameras installed and searchlights affixed to keep watch on the movements of individuals.
A verification desk has also been established to collect details of the Afghan nationals brought by the police to the centre.
