MPA, brother test positive for coronavirus

SAHIWAL: In Eid holidays, 11 people died from coronavirus related complications in different districts.

Moreover, a ruling party MPA from Arifwala, his younger brother, their two Lahore-based friends and two drivers have tested positive for cornovirus.

After the test reports, the MPA and his family members have been quarantined in a private residence in L ahore.

The MPA`s close circles added that he had been extensively traveling between Arifwala and Islamabad because of his business. He returned to the village on the eve of Eid from Islamabad and met with his family members and few village people.

On May 24, a private laboratory report confirmed him a virus positive. Local authorities are also tracing two drivers` contact his-tory as they belong to surrounding villages. Also, five coronavirus cases died in the past three days in district Sahiwal.

BAHAWALPUR: Two persons sufferingfromCovid-19relateddiseases died at the Government Civil Hospital and the Bahawal Victoria Hospital during Eid holidays.

Covid-19 focal person Dr Zakir Hussain told Dawn on Tuesday that in all four people died, and of them two were the confirmed Covid-19 patients.

The deceased included a woman (75), of Uch Sharif, a male resident of city`s Qasim Town, a resident of Haroonabad and another of Lodhran. He said the woman and the shopkeeper (24) of Qasim Town had tested positive while the results of the Haroonabad and Lodhran residents had not been issued from the laboratory.

Earlier in March, a 75-year-old man who had returned from Saudi Arabia after performing Umra had died of coronavirus related complications. The focal persons added that the total number of Covid-19 infected patients in the city was 167, and of them eight were being treated in the civil hospital while another 33 had been quarantined in their homes.

SARGODHA: Another patientof coronavirus expired here on Tuesday in the Isolation ward of the DHQ Teaching Hospital.

Overall, 16 people have died from coronavirus in the district, while the number of the infected people is 2,534. The one who died on Tuesday was bought to the hospital on May 23.

SIALKOT: The coronavirusrelated complications claimed three lives in Sialkot district on Tuesday.

Rescuers and local administration buried a 42-year-old woman in village Kot Jandu (Daska tehsil), a 55-year-old woman and a 56-yearold man in local graveyards in Pasrur city. They remained under treatment at Allama Iqbal Memorial Teaching Hospital for about two weeks.

In all, six people have died from coronavirus in Sialkot district in the last four days.

Among the deceased included a senior physician, a Special Branch of ficial and a Gepco SDO.

TOBA TEK SINGH: The 138 passengers who returned on Saturday from Dubai by a PIA special flight to Faisalabad and were shifted to Toba Tek Singh have been allowed to go home on Tuesday af ter they tested negative for coronavirus.of coronavirus expired here on Tuesday in the Isolation ward of the DHQ Teaching Hospital.
