BAJAUR: The authorities on Saturday arrested several unqualified health workers for operating medical laboratories, X-ray plants and ultrasound centres and sealed their outlets.
According to a statement, the unauthorised and unqualified workers were arrested at a medicine market near the District Headquarters Hospital Khar during a raid by a joint inspection team of the district administration and the health department, led by Khar assistant commissioner AmirullahKhan Wazir.
‘During the raid, the team inspected several private health outlets including laboratories, X-ray plants and ultrasound centres and found a number of workers at those facilities unauthorised and unqualified, which led the team to arrest them,’ said the statement issued from the deputy commissioner’s office.
The statement, however, did not mention the exact number of detained individuals, adding that a number of private health facilities were also sealed for multiple reasons such as lack of qualified staff, violations of standards for operat-ing suen rac111ties and poor hygiene.
The officials on the occasion expressed graveconcern over several private health facilities operating in violation of the rules and regulations governing such establishments, saying they were putting the lives of local residents at risk.
The officials instructed the owners of all private health facilities to strictly follow the rules and regulations of the provincial health department set for operating such facilities across the province.
‘The inspection team told the owners and management of private health facilities that the district administration and health department had zero tolerance for those putting the lives of innocent citizens at risk in the name of providing healthcare facilities. Such action would continue against illegal and substandard private health facilities across the district,’ the statement added.
