‘Nawaz, Imran to blame if democracy derailed’

Bureau Report 2016-10-27
PESHAWAR: Pakistan People’s Party, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter, has expressed concern over the uncertain political situation in the country and warned that in case democracy is derailed the entire responsibility will rest with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and PTI chairman Imran Khan.

Speaking at a party meeting here on Wednesday, PPP’s former provincial general secretary Engr Mohammad Humayun Khan said that the country was passing through crucial phase of its history and that political parties were morally bound to take steps with extreme care.

The people, he said were facing multiple problems, including unemployment, poverty, price hike and insecurity, and it was duty of the government to take effective steps for solution to the core issues.

He said the rulers were vying to prolong their tenure and serve their own interests without taking any care for the poor people. He said the credit went to PPP for ‘rendering’ sacrifices to ‘strengthen’ democracy, adding political parties should join hands to redress grievances of people.
