2019-11-27
DERA GHAZI KHAN: Chief Minister Usman Buzdar on Tuesday ordered an inquiry into detention of Seraiki poet and broadcaster at the Taunsa Police Station on Sunday.

He directed the commissioner and RPO to conduct an inquiry to fix the responsibility for creating unnecessary controversy and submit a report within two days, sources told Dawn.

Tabish was making a speech during a book launch, criticising the present and past, including Mazaris, Legharis and Buzdars (a reference to CM), for plight of the Seraiki region when he was detained by Taunsa police.

According to repons, SSP Zafar Buzdar and some other guests had got furious over the speech and allegedly disrupted the ceremony. Sources alleged SSP Zafar was behind the detention of Tabish.

SSP Zafar, serving in Multan, told this correspondent he was not a cousin of the CM as the media was claiming. He said it was a poetry event but when Tabish used abusive language against local Sardars, Makhdooms and the CM, convening the book launch into a political event, he had raised an objection only, however, other audiences had got angry.

He denied the allegation of playing any role in the detention of Tabish, saying he himself had suggested to Taunsa police to save the poet from angry mob.

Mehboob Tabish told this scribe that host of the launch Shafique Jaffar and SSP Zafar Buzdar were responsible for his detention and the latter had abused him during his speech and issued him threats.-Correspondent
