KARAK: Two minor girls suffered critical burn injuries when fire erupted in a house due to gas leakage in Bahaderkhel area of Banda Daud Shah tehsil here on Thursday.

Local people said that the fire broke out in a room of the house of one Javed Khan due to gas leakage. They said that fire left two minor girls seriously injured before they were rescued.

They were shifted to district headquarters hospital, Karak, where doctors referred them to the burn unit of Kharian hospital.

The doctors said that the girls had suffered over 80 per cent burns on their bodies and needed specialised treatment.

They said condition of the two was critical.

Parents of the girls and local people, gathered at hospital, demanded establishment of a burn unit in the district headquarters hospital, Karak, saying that due to gas leakage fire incidents and resulting injuries to people had become a routine.
