Dismissal

2023-04-28
(EDITORIAL) The downfall of Mr Muhammad Ayub Khuhro, of which he was himself the obstinate architect, will gladden none but make patriotic Pakistanis grieve. Such events do not add to our national prestige, nor is it a consolation to think that they are of rare occurrence. If a front rank leader, having risen to power, proceeds to abuse both power and position ... to create a howling scandal, it is not he alone who should be condemned. Those who placed their trust in him and helped him to eminence cannot also escape blame.

... Had Mr Khuhro been a wise man he would have made his exit from Premiership less humiliating for himself by resigning.

Instead he chose to invite dismissal. ... The fact that after a careful consideration of all the circumstances of the case and having given Mr Khuhro a full hearing, the Quaid-iAzam was convinced that a prima facie case of `maladministration, gross misconduct in the discharge of his duty and responsibility, and corruption` had been established against him and accordingly directed the Governor to dismiss him, clinches the issue completely.
