JUI-F leaders among 20 booked for rioting

LAKKI MARWAT: Police on Sunday claimed to have booked around 20 tribal chiefs and JUI-F leaders from Lakki, Bannu and Tank tribal subdivisions for closing busy Indus Highway during a protest demonstration against delay in issuance of victory notification of JUI-F candidate Haji Mohammad Shoaib Afridi.

According to the FIR registered in Serai Gambila police station by SHO Syed Ayaz Khan, around 300 protesters reached Malang Adda and closed the highway to vehicular traffic by erecting obstructions and burning tyres. The protesters raised slogans against the provincial and federal governments and demanded issuance of victory notification of JUI-F candidate from PK-115 constituency.

The tribal elders and JUI-F leaders have been charged under sections 341 (wrong restraint), 283 (obstruction in public way), 290 (public nuisance), 188 (disobedience to order by public servant), 147 (rioting) and 149 (unlawful assembly) of Pakistan Penal Code.

Meanwhile, a boy was electrocuted in Mithu Ghaznikhel locality of Naurang town on Sunday. Sudais Khan, 9, touched live wire in his house and died instantly.-Correspondent
