High blood pressure, diabetes, smoking, obesity, physical inactivity and unhealthy eating habits increase the risk of cardiovascular disease. Regular health checks, daily physicalactivity, a balanced diet and avoiding tobacco can help reduce these risks. Chest pain or pressure, shortness of breath, sweating, nausea and discomfort spreading to the arm, back, neck or jaw may indicate a heart attack. These warning signs must never be ignored. In a cardiac emergency, every second counts.

Through its network of 10 hospitals and 30 Chest Pain Units, SICVD provides specialised cardiac care free of cost across Sindh. Along with treatment, SICVD remains committed to promoting prevention and helping communities recognise cardiac emergencies. On this World Heart Day, let us make heart health a daily priority. Don’t miss a beat. Know the signs. Act in time. •
