ANF claims seizing drugs worth Rs7bn

RAWALPINDI: The AntiNarcotics Force claimed to have seized 7.2 tons of narcotics valued at Rs 7.3 billion and arrested six alleged drug traffickers during separate crackdowns across the country.

In a press release issued here on Monday, the ANF said that it carried out operations against drug mafias across the country and added that the seized drugs included 7.18 tons of Charas, 24.221(g of heroin and 1.02kg of opium.

During the operations, the ANF arrested six suspects and seized five vehicles.

The ANF Peshawar seized 4080kg of Charas from an uninhabited area of Ghallanay in Mohmand Agency. The consignment was hidden in a deserted godown situated in the barren mountains, outside the populated area.

The contraband was packed in 102 plastic bags. As per reports, the consignment was intended to be handed over to some other narco-gang for onward shipment.

The ANF Quetta seized 3,040kg of Charas from an area of Killi Qandeel Segi in Tehsil Gulistan of District Qilla Abdullah. According to details, the Charas found in a mountainous area was stuffed in 70 plastic bags.

As per initial investigations, the consignment was to be shifted to some safe location at coastal belt of Balochistan for onward smuggling to some foreign destination.

The ANF Rawalpindi acting on a tip-off intercepted two suspected cars at Turki Toll Plaza, Jhelum Road. During search, 55kgofCharasand18kgofheroin were recovered from secret cavities of the vehicles. Three persons were taken into custody.

The ANF Rawalpindi Airport Team, during routine patrolling at Benazir Bhutto International Airport, Islamabad, detained a suspected passenger namely Abdur Razzaq, a resident of Gujranwala.
