Five killed in GB road accidents

GILGIT/SKARDU: Five persons were killed and two injured in separate road incidents in Gilgit-Baltistan on Tuesday.

Police said that a motorcycle collided with a car coming from the opposite direction on the Karakoram Highway near Rahimabad, killing Ehsan Ali and his son Basharat Hussain on the spot.

In the other incident, three people, including a woman, were killed and two injured when a car fell into a ravine in Skardu on Tuesday morning.

Police said the car was going from Gole village to Skardu city, adding five people were travelling in the car, all belonging to Gole village. The accident occurred in Narthang village.

As a result, three people identified as driver Mohammad Hassan, Ghulam Abbas and his wife, Bano died on the spot, while two others — Qasim and Habibullah — received injuries. The injured were shifted to the district headquarters hospital, Skardu, where their condition was stated to be out of danger.—Dawn Report
