Billboard removal from outside hospital colony demanded

CHARSADDA: The paramedical staff at the District Headquarters Hospital, Charsadda, and the Women and Children Hospital, Rajjar, on Saturday threatened to go on a strike from June 2 if a giant billboard erected near the hospital colony was not removed immediately.

This was decided during a meeting jointly convened by the All-Health Professionals Association and the Paramedical Association here on Saturday.

The meeting was chaired by the association’s president Zahidullah Salarzai and attended by provincial chairman Maqbool Shah, office-bearers of various units, Class-Ill and Class-IV employees, clerical staff, and representatives of the nursing community.

The meeting reviewed several administrative and employee-related issues, with particular focus on the presence of a giant billboard erected near the hospital colony.

They said that negotiations were held with the hospital administration a month ago about the removal of the billboard posting threats to the people living nearby.

Following those talks, the administration had reportedly issued a notification assuring employees that the billboard would be removed within a week. However, despite the passage of more than a month, no practical steps have been taken to implement the decision, the participants alleged. After deliberations, participants decided to launch a protest campaign if their demand was not met.

Under the announced schedule, a symbolic strike will be observed on June 1, while a complete strike will begin on June 2 at both DHQ Hospital and Women and Children Hospital. Correspondent
