MURREE / RAWALPINDI: Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif said on Sunday that neither he had committed corruption nor had the Supreme Court disqualified him on any corruption charges.
Flanked by his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son Hussain Nawaz, Mr Sharif was addressing Pakistan Muslim League-N workers, who had gathered outside his residence at Kashmir Point in Murree on his arrival there with his f amily.Mr Sharif has been disqualified by the apex court in the Panama Papers case on the basis that he had failed to declare receivable salary of 10,000 dirhams from a Dubai-based companyowned by his son in his nomination papers for the 2013 general elections.
Mr Sharif said he would approach people to convince them that he was innocent. During his tenure in office,he said, he had strived to make Pakistan a prosperous country, turned it into a nuclear power, ended electricity outages and developed infrastructure.
L ater in the evening, Mr Sharif went to his another residence in Chhangla Gali, located in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
He travelled from Islamabad to Murree and then to Chhangla Gali by road without heavy deployment of police.
A police official said neither police were deployed along the route nor was a special squad provided to Mr Sharif during his journey to Murree and then Chhangla Gali.
