2015-12-03
HARIPUR: Lance Naik Mohammad Rashid, who was killed in a terrorist attack in Karachi on Tuesday, was laid to rest in his native Dhok Qutba village, some 15 kilometers from here on Khanpur Road on Wednesday.

On armed forces behalf, Brigadier Shahid Saeed and Major Adil attended the funeral prayers and condoled with Abdur Razzaq, father of the fallen soldier. Except a tehsil councillor hailing from Khalabat Township, none of the elected representatives (MNA, MPAs, district and tehsil nazim) turned up on the occasion.

Besides a local deputy superintendent of police and in-charge of police chowki, Pind Muneem, a large number of people from the surrounding villages attended the funeral prayers.

Late Rashid, father of a 15-month-old baby girl, had joined Pak Army some years ago. He married some two and half years ago. According to his family sources, he had been performing his duty in military police in Karachi for the last three years.—Correspondent
