PESHAWAR: To ensure transparency in award of contracts, services procurement and purchases for government departments, a diploma course, hrst ofits kindin Pakistan,is beinglaunchedforthe purpose soon.

In this connection, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Public Procurement Authority (KPPPA) Managing Director Masood Younas and IMSciences Director Dr Mohsin Khan signed a memorandum of understanding here on Wednesday.

On the occasion, Mr Younas said in today`s world, procurement was a subject. Understanding rules and regulations regarding procurement and its implementation could help in utilising national resources in a better, transparent and accurate way, heexplained.

Presently there is dire need of implementation of procurement rules to insure transparency in awarding government contracts, procuring services and purchasing goods for government departments, but realistically speaking there is either no or less knowledge of procurement laws, rules and process, he said.

To overcome this deficiency, it has now been decided to start a diploma courseincollaborationwithIMSciences, which solely aims to equip students with up-to-date education about procurement department. It would certainly prove fruitful in future in ensuring transparency in utilisation of financial resources in government departments, concluded Mr Younas.-Bureau Report
